Introducing Sherbert Island Interior

After a few hours of playing with palettes and tile designs I am finally happy with the interior of Sherbert Island. For some unknown reason the two hardest tilesets to design have been the ice and fire ones. Now with the palette and design now matching with the rest of my hack's tilesets I can move on to finish this one relatively quickly... Next stop: Sherbert Island background.

Syrup Castle Complete, Stove Canyon WIP

Syrup Castle has nearly come to an end. A few of the tiles looked a bit off with their perspectives so I went in and fixed them up as well as blending the skull tiles with the brick tiles behind them more. Overall I am happy with the progress of this one.

Stove Canyon has been one of my more troublesome tilesets as the mixture of the different features caused a lot of clashing with palettes. Everything is slowly coming together and hopefully another hour or 2 on this would should see it's completion.

Back into the Swing

The creepy atmosphere of Syrup Castle

It had been almost 6 months since the last time I touched any of my custom tilesets for Super Mario Land 3 and after an hour of getting back into the swing of things with Paint Shop Pro's pixel tools I settled on the final design for the Syrup Castle exterior tileset.

A Long Long Time Ago....

Quite a while ago now I started 2 Super Nintendo ROM hack projects entitled The Legend of Zelda: Dodongo's Gold (more recently renamed to The Legends of Hyrule) and Super Mario Land 3 Remix, Zelda3 and Super Mario World rom hacks respetively.

After a relaxing Christmas and way too much time on Holiday I was reminded via a couple of emails about both of these projects and where I had left them. This sparked up my nostalgia for the ROM hacking community and the projects I failed to complete.

And so with the realisation that I need to return to my favourite hobby of old (next to actually completing games) I will be continuing with both ROM hacks (in one form or another).

In an attempt to keep myself focused and also any fans (I have left) up to date with my progress I have decided to take the blog route for the first time. I will continue to update and display some progress very soon...
